I personally do not believe that the recent party crashing incident is something to make a fuss about. Embarrassing? Of course, but that’s about it as far as I‘m concerned. The reason I am not up in arms about this happening is because I am an avid supporter of common sense and according to that ideology these people were obviously harmless. I strongly believe that whoever perpetrates the next attack on the United States will look and act nothing like Tareq and Michaele Salahi.
The event does however reveal the hypocrisy of the new progressive movement in a way I believe not many will catch on to. If we are to live in a world where racial profiling is useless and we are to be just as suspicious of granny as we are of Mohammed Ahkmed, then this party crashing incident is downright scary. My point is that to anyone who believes racial profiling is wrong this recent stir can not be viewed as anything but a dangerous breach of national security. As I have already stated I don’t think the incident is much more than an embarrassing mistake but that is entirely based off of my ‘assumption’ that the enemy does not and will not look like polo playing party crashers.
Assuming racial profiling is wrong however, should lead to an entirely different perspective. And I expect people with this perspective to react similar to the way I would react if a turban and burka clad couple waltzed into the party. Let me tell you If that happened I’d probably start believing in the 2012 theories, our goose would be cooked. Luckily, I don’t believe for a second that that couple would get in as easily and there is no doubt in my mind last Tuesday proved this. For if the secret service truly operated on the idea of equal opportunity terrorism, the Salahi’s would never have made it into the event. Instead they looked at the couple and made a decision. An embarrassing but nevertheless harmless decision.

Celebrities We're Tired of Hearing About: Gabriel Mata
If I were to write a piece about any of the characters mentioned above save Sarah Palin, I would be contributing to the problem my piece would object to. The piece couldn’t avoid being contradictory because my opinion is that fewer people should have opinions. These people are jokes and I think everyone should stop caring all together.
I don’t watch or read that crap and I make it a point not to. Everyone likes to watch a little junk TV now and then, but that doesn’t mean I need to keep up to date on it or respect it. Uninformed opinions are worthless and I actually try to make my opinions on these matters as worthless as possible. The “tabloidization” of our culture is a threat to a stable society and the balloon boys and octopus moms prove it. It is a travesty how seriously we take these disturbed individuals and I won’t have any part in it.

Looking Back at Election Day 2009: Gabriel Mata
I believe that the results of the 2009 elections are a direct repudiation of the Barack Obama presidency. Exit polls say differently but people are still allowed to say anything, that doesn’t mean it’s true. New Jersey and Virginia are not immune to the national political climate and it’s ridiculous to believe the national democratic party and their governing style was inconsequential to the results of elections. Last Tuesday Barack Obama put his political capital on the line and that’s a fact. In New Jersey he campaigned heavily for John Corzine, making at least 5 appearances. It was general knowledge that Corzine was his man and he made an effort to see him win. In Virginia the situation was similar with democratic nominee for governor Creigh Deeds. What happened in both those elections? Crushing defeats.
If the polls are correct and Barack Obama wasn’t a factor for voters, we still learn about Obama’s standing with the American People. If Obama truly wasn’t a factor last Tuesday despite the fact that he campaigned we must conclude that Obama is irrelevant. It means no one cares what he has to say on the matter. Why don’t they care? because they simply don’t trust him. Lets be serious, if the American people trusted Barack Obama and his policies they would vote for his guys and his policies. Instead we found that Barack Obama might not help a candidate’s campaign but hinder it. So Barack Obama went from being the new JFK to the new George W. in less than a year. There is no doubt in my mind that in 2010 the democrats will think twice before putting Obama out on the stump. The farce is over, the great uniter can’t unite anyone except for anti bush Europeans and this fact is crystallizing in Americas political conscious. He is more divisive than George Bush and that is totally contrary to what this man ran on. George Bush didn’t struggle to obtain one measly democratic vote on even his most controversial policies. Barack Obama on the other hand has given up on the republicans and is now struggling for democrats in his own party. How can you blame Barack Obama’s failures on stingy republicans when the truth is his own party is not even on board.
People are upset because this whole presidency thing is not turning out one bit like he said it would. I know the people didn’t elect Obama understanding that if they disagreed with him they would be labeled a racist. Imagine how the last presidential election would’ve turned out if we knew that under the Obama nation, opposing universal healthcare is racist. It probably would’ve turned out a lot like the 2009 elections in my opinion. Tell the elephants to calm down though because this is a victory for the GOP by default. Just like Bush handed 2008 over to the democrats Barack Obama will empower the republican party for 2010. Americans are tired of voting for the lesser of two evils and we are realizing fast that we are running out of options. Could this be the end of the two party system? Not as long as these guys are in office.

Changing the Date of Halloween: Gabriel Mata
Can we please not completely bow down to corporations and party culture? Apparently there is a growing movement to change Halloween from October 31st to the last Saturday in October. Like everything else in congress, the push is gaining momentum because big corporations are behind it. Plus, it will be more convenient for adults and reckless teenagers to get drunk and drive home without worrying about being dead and hung-over in the morning. I mean for children Halloween has been working out just fine the way it is. I didn’t notice kids having any more fun than they usually do this Halloween, did you? Are corporate profits and partying really American values? If so, what happened to us?
If America were to take action on this cause, like it or not, it would concretely prove some unsettling concepts. First off, are we all existing purely for the weekend? Are we not allowed to do anything fun on weekdays even if it’s a holiday? I understand people have work or school in the morning but sometimes I feel like people who have real hobbies are a dying breed as more and more people turn to the universal hobby of intoxication. The last thing we need to do is encourage this. Yet, encouraging this is exactly what changing the date of Halloween would do. It would say “who cares about tradition we want to make money and party.”
Also, Has anyone realized that this change would also place “mischief night” on the weekend? Mischief night is the night before Halloween where it is traditional for teenagers to throw eggs and toilet paper at private property. I see it now, small towns across the country transforming into Las Vegas for the holiday weekend. Who are these people that look at America and its youth and think; “You know what they need?…Another Saturday to dress provocatively and get ridiculously wasted.” Hopefully this movement will lose momentum when people realize there are worthier causes than corporate profits and partying.
